The Hernando County community that lost its star quarterback this week, showed their love and support at the first football game since his passing.

Central High School set out banners and flowers at the stadium that were sent to them from the area schools in honor of Sebastian Rivera.

Rivera died this past Sunday in a motorcycle accident.

In a moment of solidarity, both teams came together before the game and shook hands.

The team all wore the initials "SR" on their helmets to honor the young, stand-out athlete, while many in the stands wore t-shirts to support the family.

Rivera's brother, who also plays for the team, is now wearing Sebastian's jersey, number three.

"It's hard but the support helps so much. It just gives you the strength to keep going," said Martin Rivera, Sebastian's father.

The standard 50/50 raffle has a difference cause this week. All proceeds will go to the family for funeral expenses.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday.
