SPRING HILL, Fla. — Officials have removed and will safely dispose of a possible military munition found in Spring Hill on Monday.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad assisted by MacDill Air Force in Tampa removed the object on Oakridge Drive.

Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene of Oakridge Drive around 6:38 p.m. on Monday where they say a resident found what they believe is an old military munition.

A deputy told ABC Action News that the object was extremely old and degraded, possible a Civil War era military munition. MacDill took the object and will safely dispose of it.

Deputies say that while digging, a resident located the object and called HCSO.
