BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Mandy Figarola, who runs Ziggy’s Legacy Rescue say she was leaving her husband’s veterinary clinic in Brooksville on Sunday when she saw something moving in the road. She says when she got close she saw it was a thin black puppy with pencils taped around its back legs.

Figarola says she scooped up the puppy and unwrapped the tape to find the pencils imbedded into wounds in the puppy’s paralyzed legs.

“I got the bandages off and when I saw what was under them I sat down, held her and cried, and she licked away my tears,” said Figarola.

The puppy is currently being treated at ASAP Animal Clinic in Brooksville.

“I’ve done animal rescue for a long time and this is one of the saddest things I’ve seen,” said Figarola.

Figarola says she’s offering a $500 reward to anyone who can provide proof of who owned the puppy.

“She was tortured and left for dead and this has got to stop. She deserves justice and the subhuman who did this to her needs to be punished. These animals deserve better.” said Figarola.
