Details emerged Saturday morning on the tragic fatal shooting of 22-year-old singer Christina Grimmie as Orlando Police described her brother as a "hero" for preventing more fatalities.

The singer was killed late Friday night after she performed at a concert with the band  Before You Exit. Grimmie was outside of the concert venue signing autographs for fans when the shooter killed the former "The Voice" finalist.

"Her brother is a hero and possibly saved countless other lives. He is not injured," Orlando Chief of Police John Mina said at a press conference Saturday. "Grimmie's brother Marcus tackled the suspect & shortly after that suspect killed himself."

According to Mina, Grimmie likely did not know her attacker, Kevin James Loibl, a 27-year-old white male not from the Orlando area. The suspect also took his own life at the scene.

The suspect was found with two firearms and a hunting knife.

Mina said the club employed unarmed security guards, but did not have any special duty officers on hand at the meet and greet.

Grimmie participated in the sixth season of "The Voice," a television show that signs the winner of the season to a record deal worth $100,000. Grimmie came just short of winning in 2014, when she finished third.

In 2015, she won an award from iHeart Radio for Top Rising Star. She also opened for Selena Gomez and Rachel Platten.
