President Barack Obama has responded on Facebook to fatal shootings by police in Louisiana and Minnesota, saying they point to larger problems in the country’s criminal justice system.
On Wednesday a woman livestreamed the aftermath of a fatal shooting in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, saying police opened fire on her boyfriend for “no apparent reason.” The man has been identified as Philando Castile of St. Paul, a cafeteria supervisor at a Montessori school.
The shooting immediately followed the death of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, early Tuesday. It occurred during an encounter with police outside a convenience store where he sold music and movies and was captured on cellphone video.
