A massive fire at a senior living home in West Chester, Pennsylvania injured at least 20 people and forced about 100 residents to endure the cold.

The Barclay Friends community caught fire at about 11 p.m. local time on Thursday. According to West Chester's Daily Local News, an explosion was also heard coming from the facility.

CBS News reported the residents heard a "big pop" just before the blaze started.

At least 20 people were injured in the fire, which destroyed the facility. At least 16 of those injured were taken to local hospitals, according to Philadelphia's WPVI-TV.

About 100 residents were safely evacuated from the building, according to the Daily Local News. But on a night where temperatures dropped into the 30s, it was anything but comfortable as they waited for emergency crews.

Barclay Friends is home to about 140 people. All the residents were accounted for as of Friday morning, according to CBS News.

The displaced residents were moved to other area senior centers, fire houses and hospitals.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the fire.
