Pinellas County Deputies say a mother and son had been burglarizing county businesses for months.
According to arrest documents, 34-year-old Jason Hellems would break into the businesses while his mother drove a Jeep Cherokee towing a trailer.
"I had some generators, bounce house blowers come up missing," Chauncey Ward, owner of Uncle Tuck's Bounce Houses said.
Ward's business was hit twice. Once in April and again in October. In April, the burglar was seen driving a Ford Mustang.
"That was back in Easter. This time he come through in a Cherokee with a wooden trailer and cleaned up everybody. A roofing company, all around the building," Ward said.
According to deputies, the duo hit at least 5 businesses since April, burglarizing some multiple times. The two stole rims and scaffolding from Solo Auto Repair. Some of the stolen items were then posted for sale on the app OfferUp. Those posts are what led to their arrests when one of the victims found his stolen rims listed for sale.
"A friend of mine contacted them (the suspects) and sent them a message and they replied. (They) Sent us the address and everything," Alvaro Ortega, owner of Solo Auto Repair, said.
As of Monday evening, the mother and son are still in the Pinellas County Jail.
