2-alarm fire at a recycling center in Tampa

Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a two-alarm fire at a recycling center just after 7 p.m. on Monday.
 
An employee of Blue Monkey Recycling, located at 1603 N 43rd St., reported the fire. 
 
According to a sign on the building, Blue Monkey recycles class III waste (wood, paper and plastic) and construction and demolition debris.
 
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to prevent extensions to surrounding buildings. No one was inside the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The fire was under control shortly after 8 p.m. 
There was significant damage to the roof of the building.
 
Investigators from the Fire Marshal's office are working determine the cause and origin of the fire. According to Tampa Fire Rescue, the fire does not appear suspicious.
