TAMPA, Fla. -- Officers are investigating a deadly shooting occurring early Sunday morning in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

34-year-old Justin Vancleff Heilig of Salisbury, N.C. was found with a gunshot wound near the intersection of South Willow and West Swann Avenues, Tampa Police Department said.

Police say a neighbor heard gunshots and called police shortly before 4:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found the wounded man in the 600 block of South Willow Avenue. He was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Tampa Police are working to identify the suspect(s) involved in the shooting. Officers combed the area in search of evidence and interviewing neighbors to develop leads.

They say the shooting does not appear to be random, but the motive and reason why Heilig was in the Tampa area is unclear at this time.
