Hillsborough County sheriff's detectives have arrested a 31-year-old Tampa man for attacking a woman on a Northdale trail in February.

Robert Hembree Jr. was arrested on charges of sexual assault and petty theft, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

On the afternoon of Feb. 24, a female jogger was walking west on the Northdale-Lake Park trail when she was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground.

A man, who sheriff's deputies said was Hembree, forcefully remove the woman's shorts and panties then stood over the woman using vulgarities, the release said.

He ran off when the woman began kicking him.

Hembree was later arrested for unrelated charges in the area. He later admitted to throwing the victim to the ground and seeing her naked from the waist down, a sheriff's office media release said.
