Tampa Bay's Dancing With The Stars is a party with a purpose. The fun, annual event draws thousands of dollars for area charities.

Tampa Bay's Dancing With The Stars has raised more than $1million for local charity organizations since 2010.

It is hosted by the nonprofit Hands Across The Bay, which is sharing proceeds with four other charities, including the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.

On Saturday, Crisis Center of Tampa Bay CEO Clara Reynolds and development director Sandy McLaughlin discussed this year's Tampa Bay's Dancing With The Stars event with ABC Action News anchor James Tully.

James will be participating in this year's event, following in the footsteps of his co-anchor Lindsay Logue. The 2015 event raised about $250,000.

Proceeds from the event helps thousands of Bay area residents.
