A 31-year-old man who reportedly met a 14-year-old girl on the Internet has been charged with sexual battery of a minor, authorities said.
Mark A. Reeves of St. Petersburg knowingly had inappropriate sexual activity with the juvenile victim, a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report said. The incidents occurred from September to December at a private residence in Pinellas County.
According to Pinellas County sheriff's detectives, the investigation began Saturday after the mother of the 14-year-old girl called deputies. The parent told them she spotted Reeves standing outside near her daughter's bedroom window Friday night.
Detectives conducted interviews and determined the victim first met Reeves on Facebook in February.
The victim told the detectives Reeves began having inappropriate sexual activity with her in September and on multiple occasions since then, the report states.
