A 44-year-old Spring Hill woman died of her injuries following a head-on traffic crash on Shady Hills Road early Sunday, officials said.
The incident occurred about 6:30 a.m. on Shady Hills Road south of Sand Crane Drive, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
A 2000 Chevy pickup, driven by Daniel Gray Daimwood, 35, of Spring Hill, was traveling northbound on Shady Hills Road when it left its lane for unknown reason.
The Chevy pickup entered the path of a southbound 1995 Ford Aspire, driven by Yolanda Alexandra Ruiz, 44, of Spring Hill, the FHP said. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Daimwood and Ruiz were taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where Ruiz later died of her injuries. Daimwood was last listed in serious condition.
The investigation continues, according to the FHP.
