Detectives have confirmed that the two people who died in a Citrus County shooting Monday evening were related. The report said it appeared that the son shot his mother and then himself.
Kay Renner, 89, and her son, 69-year-old Jerry Lee Mone, both died from gunshots wounds. Renner apparently suffered from Alzheimer's disease and the sheriff's office report said Mone was having trouble caring for her.
Detectives were awaiting autopsy results as of Tuesday morning.
The sheriff's office wanted to emphasize to the community that this was an isolated incident, and the general public needn't worry.
