A semi-tractor trailer hit and killed a pedestrian in Polk County early Monday morning.
Polk County officials said the incident involved an adult victim near the intersection of Highway 27 and Charles Street in the Frostproof, Fla., area. The crash happened just before 5:30 a.m.
All lanes of northbound Highway 27 were closed following the crash as crews investigated.
The sheriff's office encourages drivers to avoid the area and said delays are expected.
