Police: 10-year-old Tampa boy found safe

UPDATE: Chad Kendrick was found safe just before 5 a.m. on Friday morning.

A search is underway for a 10-year-old boy, who Tampa police say ran away from home on Thursday afternoon. 

Chad Kendrick, 10, was last seen at his home in the 2900 block of East Lake Avenue at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday, the Tampa Police Department said. 

He is described as a black child with short black hair, who stands 5-foot-3 and weighs 85 pounds. Chad was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, blue pants and a red bandana.

Early Friday morning Tampa police were combing the east Tampa neighborhood where Chad lives, Tampa police Lt. G.A. Neal said.

Police are asking anyone with information on Chad's whereabouts to call the Tampa Police Department non-emergency number at (813) 231-6130.
