Residents escaped a house fire in the 4500 block of Dolphin Drive in Hillsborough County's Fishbowl area about midnight Tuesday, but the family dog wasn't as fortunate, authorities said.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue with the help of firefighters from the Tampa and Temple Terrace fire departments extinguished the house fire at 4507 Dolphin Drive early Wednesday morning. The Fishbowl neighborhood is located in unincorporated Hillsborough just east of the Tampa city limits.
Three people in the house at the time of the fire got out safely.
The family dog also ran out of the house at first then went back inside, where it died.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
