WASHINGTON -- On Monday, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will travel to Eglin Air Force Base in the Florida Panhandle.
Air Force One is scheduled to touch down at Eglin AFB near Destin in Okaloosa County at 10:25 a.m. Monday, Central Daylight Time, which will be 11:25 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, the White House said Sunday in a statement.
No other details were released about the visit.
However, last week the President said he wanted to visit parts of Florida Panhandle heavily damaged by Hurricane Michael.
The Category 4 hurricane was packing 155 mile per hour winds when it made landfall at Mexico Beach, just southeast of Panama City Beach, Oct. 10. The hurricane destroyed homes and businesses, ripped down power lines and trees, left some road and bridges impassable and led to at least 18 deaths in its path.
The President and First Lady's itinerary also includes a stop at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Ga., at about 4 p.m. Monday.
No further details were released about the south Georgia visit.
Hurricane Michael also ravished parts of southern Georgia before it roared through the Carolinas, Virginia, and the Northeast then into the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
