A Manatee County man was shot in the arm during an attempted robbery on 21st Avenue West in Palmetto late Friday, officials said.
Cristobal PozQuixtan, 33, of Palmetto was returning home shortly after 11 p.m. Friday when he was approached by a man, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
The man asked PozQuixtan to hand over his wallet then grabbed PozQuixtan's arm. PozQuixtan broke free, and at some point he was shot in the arm, the Manatee sheriff's office report said.
The would-be robber ran away. He was described as a tall, black man with a thin build, sporting a full beard and wearing dark clothing, the report said.
PozQuixtan was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
