A 1-year-old child died and 5 people, including 3 children, were injured in a two-car traffic crash on U.S. 301 in Riverview Saturday night, authorities said.
Two of them were last listed in critical condition, the Florida Highway Patrol said..
Shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday., a 2010 Infiniti QX56 was traveling southbound on U.S 301 when the driver of the Infiniti attempted to make an illegal left turn onto Bloomingdale Avenue, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Steve Gaskins said in a news release. At the time, there was a red left-turn traffic signal.
As a result, the Infiniti entered the path of a 1999 Ford Ranger. The fronts of both vehicles collided.
One-year-old Drew Lawton of Gibsonton, who was a passenger in the Ford Ranger, was pronounced dead at Tampa General Hospital.
The driver of the Ford, Nicole Tanner, 34, of Gibsonton, and another passenger, Isabelle Tanner, 14, also of Gibsonton, were last listed in critical condition.
Tara Edwards, 41, of Brandon, the driver of the Infiniti, and the two passengers in the Infiniti, Addison Putman, 9, and Kennedy Putman, 11, both of Brandon, all received minor injuries.
No charges have been filed, pending the highway patrol investigation.
