Off-duty Pinellas sheriff's office employee arrested for DUI

Posted
Pinellas County sheriff's deputies assigned to the DUI unit arrested a non-certified employee of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office on a DUI charge in Seminole, authorities said.

At about 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, deputies saw a 2007 Toyota truck traveling westbound on Bay Pines Boulevard approaching Seminole Boulevard. It failed to stay a single lane, a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report said.

When deputies initiated a traffic stop, the vehicle made a northbound turn onto Seminole Boulevard.

Deputies made contact with the driver, 47-year-old Janet L. Schreiner, who identified herself as an off-duty Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office employee.

Deputies said Schreiner showed signs of impairment and a breath sample indicated she had a BAC of .229.

Schreiner was arrested and charged with one count of Driving Under the Influence. She was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

Schreiner was hired by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, on Jan. 4, 2013. She worked as a non-certified Criminal Justice Specialist in the Department of Detention and Corrections. Her employment was terminated following the arrest.
