Polk County deputies are trying to figure out how a projectile ended up lodged in the head of an NFL player.

Javess Blue, 23, of Lake Wales, tells deputies he was injured at the Uprising Bar on the Scenic Highway in Frostproof this weekend.

Blue was flown to the Lakeland Regional Health Center where X-Rays revealed what appears to be a BB pellet had entered into Blue’s ear canal, causing injury, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Blue was alert and responsive during treatment, and the hospital staff tells authorities that Blue’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening; he was listed in “stable” condition.

Friends of Blue who were at the Uprising Bar with him say the former University of Kentucky wide receiver suddenly fell while at the bar, injuring his chin during the fall. Blue also appeared to friends to have an ear injury at the time of the fall.

There was never any altercation or fights at the bar, friends tell Sheriff's deputies, and employees of Uprising told authorities the same thing later in the evening. They also reported never hearing any shots fired.

Javess Blue was signed to the Green Bay Packers but released by the team earlier this year because of a shoulder injury, according to team reports.
