Hillsborough County officials are investigating a mobile home fire as arson after responding to Bryan Road early Monday morning to find one home in flames and the home next door covered with graffiti.
Around 1:18 a.m. on Monday, firefighters contained a fire at a mobile home located at 10830 Bryan Road in Tampa.
Next door to the affected home, investigators found political hate speech spray painted on the side of another mobile home. "Burn everything," "BLM," and "(expletive) Trump" were written on the home with an arrow pointing to the home affected by the fire.
Investigators believe both homes are vacant and there is no electricity running to either home.
Diedra Russell lives next to the home that caught fire and says she and her husband saw two men leaving the home moments before they realized the home was burning.
"It's horrible and scary," she said, "very scary."
She says someone spray painted a similar message on a car and another home last month.
"This is extreme," she said, "from spray painting to now lighting homes on fire."
Another home down the road was also spray painted with the hate speech on the front of it.
Investigators believe that message was written by the same people.
