A 39-year-old man was struck and killed when he attempted to cross U.S. 41 south of Palm Avenue early Saturday morning, authorities said.
James Dale Haislip of Tampa was pronounced dead on the scene of the 12:24 a.m. traffic accident, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Thomas John Fava, 33, of Riverview was traveling northbound on U.S. 41 in the outside lane when Haislip walked into the path of Fava's 2001 Dodge Ram, state troopers say.
