A man was robbed of cash outside a Publix Supermarket on West Hillsborough Avenue in Town N' Country, authorities said.

The robber was last seen jumping into a black Volkswagen CC, year unknown, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported.

The incident occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at 8701 W. Hillsborough Ave.

A black man in his early 20s with a thin build and his hair in dreads approached the victim and began grabbing at his back pocket, a sheriff's office report said. The victim and the robber fell to the concrete.

The robber was able to take an envelope containing cash from the victim's back pocket. He jumped up and ran.

Some people who witnessed the attack ran after the bandit,  who ran through the parking lot to a black Volkswagen CC, year unknown, driven by a second unidentified black man. The vehicle drove away.

The robbery victim had gone to the bank to withdraw cash before he went to Publix, the sheriff's office report said. Sheriff's deputies believe the robber and driver of the getaway car followed him from the bank to the grocery store.
