A man was hit and killed crossing Missouri Avenue in a motorized wheelchair Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The unidentified man was struck by a pickup truck in the 1200 block of Missouri Ave. about 2 p.m. Thursday.
He was crossing west to east across the multiple lane street when he was struck by a northbound pickup.
The victim was flown by helicopter to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg.
Missouri Avenue was shut down in both directions from Druid to Lakeview in Clearwater. Now southbound lanes on Missouri Avenue have reopened, but northbound lanes remain closed.
