A 74-year-old man was struck and killed crossing Gulfport Boulevard Wednesday evening, authorities said.
Jackie Lewis of Gulfport was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet HHR driven by Sharon O'Dell, 86, of St. Petersburg, about 6:30 p.m., said Gulfport police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Woodman in a news release. Lewis was attempting to cross in the 5400 block of Gulfport Boulevard at the time.
Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.
No citations or charges have been filed.
Lewis was not in a marked crosswalk at the time he was struck, the release states.
Gulfport police officers are investigating the accident.
