Some of the 800 children on adoption lists in the state of Florida will find new homes during November, which is National Adoption Month.
That is thanks in part to organizations such as Lutheran Services Florida, or LSF.
The Tampa-based organization is celebrating how several children on area adoption and foster care lists are being matched with nearly 40 families in Pinellas and Lee counties.
LSF and similar organizations are helping those families finalize adoption ceremonies planned for later this month.
At any given time there are about 800 Florida children available for adoption.
LSF works in coordination with the Florida Department of Children and Families and Eckerd Connects Community Alternatives in Pinellas County and Children's Network of Southwest Florida in Lee County as part of the state's community based care model to reduce the number of children in foster care.
