Lakeland firefighters free pedestrian who was struck by train and pinned by rail car

A pedestrian in Lakeland was struck by a train then became pinned between a rail car and sidewalk at the Massachusetts Avenue crossing in downtown Lakeland late Friday night, officials said.

Firefighters with Lakeland Fire Rescue freed the pedestrian, who was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The name of the victim has not been released.
