A 20-foot wide and 20-foot deep hole opened up on Fowler Ave. Thursday morning.
Hillsborough County official Larry McKinnon said it's going to be a while before crews can fix it.
Fowler Ave. was closed between Tom Folsom Road and Jackson Road due to the hole. A report said the hole extended under the roadway.
County engineers were heading to the scene to check out the situation and begin a plan to repair the roadway.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area and find an alternate route.
