Hillsborough sheriff's deputies arrest man for death of child in Seffner

Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies arrested a man death of his 7-year-old stepson.

Jack Junior Montgomery was arrested For Felony First Degree Murder.

Deputies responded to the 6010 State Road 579 in Seffner around 11 a.m Saturday after Jack Junior Montgomery called 911 to report his stepson would not wake up. 

Fire rescue crews arrived a short time later to the hotel room at the Master’s Inn and pronounced the child deceased.

The child has been identified as Brice Russell.

Detectives say that Montgomery was in charge of two additional children while the mother worked overnight.

After investigation by the Sheriff’s Office it was determined that Montgomery had punched the child in the face, stomach, and mouth with a closed fist.

Montgomery had also threatened the same violence against the other two children.

The two children said that they saw Montgomery pick up Brice and threw him into a shelf on the wall.  Two other children said they saw blood coming from Brice’s nose and mouth and told detectives that Brice never woke up after that.

Montgomery is charged with Felony First Degree Murder and is currently being booked into the Orient Road Jail.
