Taking ownership of a guide dog is a life-changing event for someone with impaired vision like our wounded warriors, but it's not cheap.

Guide dogs cost about $60 thousands to raise and train.

Southeastern Guide Dogs matches dogs with the visually impaired and veterans - at no cost to the recipient
Puppies receive basic training with volunteer "puppy raisers" for about a year before they go into their official guide-dog training.

There is something you can do to support the effort.

Heather Holland, manager of Special Events at Southeastern Guide Dogs, and Victoria Martin, who trained a 15-month-old guide dog, London, talk about the the guide dog program and fundraising efforts in the attached clip.
