One of the largest food distribution drives in Tampa Bay is taking place today.

About 3,000 families are expected to received food at the Feeding Tampa Bay annual Holiday Food Distribution event.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the Feeding Tampa Bay headquarters at 4702 Transport Drive, Building 6, which is located in an industrial park at the northwest corner of 50th Street and Adamo Drive in Tampa.

Feeding Tampa Bay staff and volunteers will give away holiday meal boxes filed with turkey or chicken, fresh produce, potatoes, stuffing and more  on Saturday, Dec. 17.

Last year, nearly 2,000 families took home holiday meals at the "From Our Table to Yours" distribution, and this year's distribution is expected to be even bigger.

Feeding Tampa Bay staffers say 125,000 meals also will be served today to make the holiday season brighter.

The event is open to anyone in need of food.
