A 51-year-old woman told police she hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes and crashed into a storefront in Winter Haven.

No injuries were reported.

At about 10:30 a.m. Friday, Erlande Lormeau of Winter Haven pulled into the parking lot at 901 Sixth St. NW. in Winter Haven, according to the Winter Haven Police Department.

She attempted to park a 2006 Nissan Altima in front of the Fashion and Multi-services Center. Lormeau instead hit the gas pedal by mistake, sending the car through the storefront. The car ended up almost completely in the store narrowly missing the manager.

Neither airbag in front of Lormeau nor her 43-year-old passenger opened, a police report said.

The incident caused $10,000 damage.

Lormeau was issued a citation for violation of driving restriction, because she only had a Florida Learner's Permit and did not have a licensed driver in the car at the time of the accident. Her passenger did not have a valid driver's license.
