A car crashed into a lake in Tampa early Friday morning.

It started around 1:30 a.m. when a deputy spotted a car swerving near Waters and Himes.

The deputy tried to initiate a traffic spot but the driver took off and ended up crashing into White Trout Lake near Busch Boulevard and Himes.

A witness and several deputies jumped into the lake to see if anyone was in the vehicle, but the dive team had to be called to the scene. The dive team arrived and confirmed that there wasn't anyone in the car.

A woman arrived on scene and told deputies that her son had called her and told her that he was involved in a crash at Busch Boulevard and Himes Avenue.

Deputies searched the area and located a black male that was soaking wet in the area of Sligh Avenue and Himes Avenue.

Leroy Henry, 21, was arrested by deputies and charged with fleeing to elude, driving while license is suspended or revoked, reckless driving, leaving scene of crash with property damage, and violation of probation for a previous DUI charge.

Henry was out on bond for a violation of probation arrest that occurred on 2/7/2017.
