Lee County Department of Transportation responded to a report of a foul odor coming from a storm drain in the Whiskey Creek neighborhood of Ft. Myers. The source of the foul odor: a dead 11-foot gator lodged in the storm drain.
Crews removed the gator from the drain.
“This was an abnormally large gator, but removal is just part of what we do," said Lee County Department of Transportation Director Randy Cerchie.
Apparently the dead gator in the drain isn't so unusual as DOT says they typically respond to one or two dead alligators in storm drains each year.
