A man died in a shootout with deputies from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office and Florida State Troopers on Sunday.
According to investigators, at around 9 a.m. in the 12500 block of Highway 200 in Dunnellon, a suspect was seen shooting a high-powered rifle at a portion of the Sabal Pipeline and other equipment in the area.
When deputies responded, the suspect, 66-year-old James Marker, fled into Citrus County in a 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck.
Deputies tracked the vehicle along southbound US Highway 41 with the assistance in the Florida Highway Patrol.
Responding law enforcement were able to immobilize the truck. When the truck came to a stop,Marker shot at officers, deputies said.
Troopers and deputies returned fire and killed Marker.
A witness drove up on the scene and shared this video with ABC Action News.
No deputies or troopers were hurt in the incident.
