Manatee County sheriff's deputies evacuated a Bradenton area neighborhood early Sunday after a couple who live on Birds Eye Terrace received a bomb threat, authorities said.

As it turned out the victims' next door neighbor, who sent the text, later admitted it was a bogus threat and no one was in danger.

However, the incident was enough to earn the next door neighbor, Nuria P. Gursoy, 50, a trip to the Manatee County Jail on charge of making false report of planting bomb.

Manatee deputies were dispatched to Birds Eye Terrace shortly after midnight in reference to a call about a bomb threat. When they arrived on the scene, they were told the suspect lived next door.

Gursoy, the suspect, sent Nicholas Riegel a text at just after midnight that said a bomb was on his lanai and it would detonate in one hour, a Manatee County Sheriff's Office news release states.

As a precaution, deputies started evacuating houses in the area while other deputies interviewed the victims, a Manatee County Sheriff's Office news release states. Deputies approached Gursoy's home and interviewed her after the evacuation was completed.

She told deputies the text was an empty threat.

A police dog trained to detect bomb material was called in to sweep the area but found nothing.

Gursoy was arrested without incident.
