The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested an 18-year old man who shot a BB gun at three Venice businesses on Wednesday.

Deputies were dispatched about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to Vacuum Pros and Kinetico Water System, both in the 1800 block of South Tamiami Trail after people at the businesses reported someone in a black sedan fired a BB gun at their storefronts.

No one was injured, but glass was shattered.

Less than an hour later, Family Tae Kwon Do also was struck.

Surveillance video captured a black Dodge Magnum driving away from the scene. About the same time, sheriff's detectives responded to Venice Hospital, where a bicyclist had been shot in the leg with a pellet gun. The victim's description of the suspect vehicle matched the one scene at other incidents.

About 5:00 p.m., the sheriff's office received reports of a BB gun being used to shoot birds in the 800 block of Acadia Rd. in Venice. When deputies arrived, they spotted a black Dodge Magnum parked in the driveway.

Mateo Urieta-Carbajal, 18, of Bradenton, told deputies he shot at the businesses, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office. An unidentified 17-year-old, who also was in the vehicle, said he shot the bicyclist.

Detectives charged Urieta-Carbajal with three counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling. The 17-year-old, whose name was not released, was charged with culpable negligence, a misdemeanor.
