Queena Vuong is inviting the public to watch her practice walking at her recovery center.
Queena is the survivor of a brutal 2011 attack outside the Bloomingdale Library. A judge sentenced Kendrick Morris, the teenager who attacked her. to life in prison.
She has not been able to walk, talk, or eat on her own since the attack. She communicates through widening her eyes, smiling and clenching her fists.
Queena requires around-the-clock care and attends daily physical and experimental therapies to aid in her recovery.
Her favorite physical therapists at Stay In Step Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Center are inviting people to watch her practice walking between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
"Throughout Queena's time at Stay in Step, it has been an incredible experience being able to see how much she's excelled from her therapy," said Mike Lopez, Stay in Step Trainer Technician. "The strides she has taken have been an inspiration to all of us."
Stay in Step is located at 10500 University Center Dr, Ste 130 in Tampa. The non-profit recovery center is a veteran support organization open to civilian patients.
A golf tournament fundraiser is being held at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday August 6 at TopGolf in Brandon to help cover Queena's continuing therapy sessions at Stay In Step. The registration deadline is Wednesday July 26.
All registration fees and tournament sponsorships are tax-deductible donations. To register, visit www.thehopeclassic.eventbrite.com. For more information on sponsoring the tournament, please contact Anna Donato at email@example.com.
