Arrest made in Holiday home invasion

Pasco County sheriff's detectives have arrested one of three suspects in a home invasion in Holiday.

Hakeem Deshawn Hayes, 18, of Holiday was arrested on one count of attempted home invasion, a Pasco County Sheriff's Office news release states. He has been booked into the Land O' Lakes Detention Center.

Authorities said Hayes and two other men burst into a house at 3326 Garfield Drive during predawn hours of Jan. 28. Sometime during the incident, a young men who lives at the house pulled a gun and fired at the suspects. A bullet struck a 16-year-old girl, who also lived there. She was hospitalized for her injuries.

The man who fired the gun was not charged because authorities said he was defending himself.

Anthony Stephens, another suspect in the home invasion, and another unnamed suspect, are still at large.
