Allegiant aborts flight takeoff at PIE

Allegiant Air Flight 904 was aborted on takeoff from St. Petersburg- Clearwater International Airport  Thursday afternoon, authorities said. No injuries reported.
 
The flight bound from St. Pete- Clearwater to Kansas City International Airport pushed back from the gate for take off just before 3 p.m., according to an email from the Allegiant On-Call Media Relations Team. When setting the takeoff power, there was an immediate indication of a possible issue with the left engine.
 
Passengers on the flight told Action News a loud noise or boom was heard in the aircraft on take off.
 
The crew aborted the takeoff and the plane returned to the gate, the Allegiant media relations email said.
 
The passengers were instructed to gather the belongings and return to the terminal.
 
The plane will be inspected and passengers will board a new aircraft for the flight to Kansas City, the Allegiant email said. The passengers were given the option to change their flight to another one in the Allegiant network at no charge.
 
Passengers departed St. Pete-Clearwater International at 6:41 p.m. on an 1 hour, 15 minute flight.
