Some students at the University South Florida are spending their Summer interning at Hillsborough County Mosquito Control hoping to combat the Zika virus.
5 students are monitoring locations and habitats of the mosquitoes that carry the virus, during the busiest time for the insects.
Intern Samuel Alao says, "For example, we go into this field and look at their habitats, treating their habitats so at the end of the day these people are safe from this disease."
The students are also using brand new computer mapping software. It can tell officials where the mosquitoes are and help them plan for the future. They'll be able to track the mosquitoes and if their disease is spreading.
