Voting early helps end persistent campaign calls

Posted

Early voting may help stop one frustration for so many voters: the persistent campaign calls.

Through Florida's Division of Elections, an early voting activity report is posted online daily that details a list of who voted during the early voting period and the polling location they went to. It does not post who you voted for.

According to the state's website each county uploads daily activity reports a day after the early voting period starts.

This information is accessible to the public -- and used by campaign parties to help them narrow down who has still has yet to vote.

"Last Friday, I got about ten phone calls," said Juan Serrato.

Serrato is voting for the first time since becoming an American citizen after moving from Mexico City.

Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections has been updating how many many people have chosen to cast a ballot through early voting.

As of Monday evening, more than 14,000 people have gone to a polling location.

More than 93,000 people have voted by mail.
