For the last 24 hours, drivers have been confused by a major traffic jam for an unexpected road closure on South Himes Avenue.
The City of Tampa has shut down the southbound lanes on Himes between Main and Arch streets while the water department repairs a water main break under the interstate.
Within the last day, city workers have put up more barricades and road closure signs around the west Tampa area.
The unexpected closure left many frustrated and going around the road closure signs to try and get to Interstate 275 North.
The repair is expected to be completed on Tuesday evening but the city says normal traffic patterns will take until Friday.
They advise drivers to use Dale Mabry Highway as an alternate route.
