UPDATE: The Florida Highway Patrol has identified Dylan Herman, 14, as the bicyclist who was hit and killed in traffic accident at U.S. 41 and Apollo Beach Blvd. Saturday.
The 14-year-old boy died after being hit by a car, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
About 2:39 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Apollo Beach Blvd in Hillsborough County, a vehicle driven by Donnel Wolfe, 42, of Bradenton, was headed southbound on U.S. 41 in the inside lane.
Dylan Herman, 14, of Ruskin was headed southbound on U.S. 41, also in the inside lane, the FHP report says.
The driver failed to see the bicyclist, and the front end of Wolfe's 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe hit the back of the bicycle.
Herman died at the scene.
