Human remains have been discovered during a search for Lonzie Barton, a Jacksonville toddler who went missing in July, according to station WJXT.

The discovery occurred as a primary suspect in the case, Ruben Ebron, waived his right to a speedy trial. He faces charges of child neglect, giving false information to law enforcement and evidence tampering.

At the time of the disappearance, Ebron told investigators he had left the 21-month-old in a car outside an apartment they shared with Lonzie’s mother. He said the car was stolen with the boy still inside.

The car Ebron reported stolen was found with its keys inside shortly after a 911 call alerted authorities to Lonzie's disappearance.
