Operation Reveille is part of the national goal to end veteran homelessness by bringing local, state, and federal agencies together.
As part of Tampa Hillsborough Homeless Initiative, the agencies helped provide a new home for two dozen veterans on Friday.
Along with a furnished home, the agencies help provide the veterans with other resources to succeed, including employment services, mental health services, benefits screenings, financial counseling and more.
More than 40 veterans attended the event at Port of Tampa Bay while hundreds of volunteers in red Reveille shirts helped find proper resources for the men and women.
The two dozen vets were taken to a brand new development off of 39th Street in Tampa that will house them.
Darrell Speights, had been living on the streets for four years and was one of those vets given the opportunity.
Speights got a two bedroom apartment style home.
"There is a God and God is good," he said, while fighting back tears.
The homes were furnished with donations from Ashley Home Furniture with a bedroom set, dining room table and couch.
Each room was also stocked with living essentials from toiletries, to food, to pots and pans.
