Tampa Police Department and the law enforcement community bid a final farewell Sunday to a fellow officer.

Officer Howard Gimbel, who spent much of his 20 years in the agency’s motorcycle unit, died in an off-duty motorcycle accident this month.

His fellow motorcycle officers led the procession. Officers stood saluting outside a local Jewish Synagogue, where services were held.

Gimbel’s wife, Tonya, arrived at the service in an ambulance and was wheeled inside on a stretcher.

She was riding with her husband when their motorcycle crashed. She is still recovering from her injuries.

“I just want to get through this day and somehow figure out what I’m going to do without somebody who was so incredible for me,” she told ABC Action News.

Tonya showed us Gimbel’s police badge. She has been sleeping with it in the hospital to make it feel like her husband is with her.
