A 16-year-old boy was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Ruskin this morning after he lost control of his vehicle, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Around 3:50 a.m., a boy later identified as Josiah V. Quirino was driving a 2006 GMC Yukon northbound on U.S. 41 south of College Avenue when he lost control and left the roadway, according to FHP.
The vehicle hit the guardrail on the east shoulder of the road. When the boy re-directed the vehicle, it went back across the road, over the median and overturned, colliding with the guardrail on the west shoulder of the road.
Quirino, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and died at the scene.
